Sugar Hollow Solar Joins Amicus Solar Cooperative: A Step Forward in Serving our Community

Since our first solar installation in 2010, every year has solidified our vision: it’s possible to do right by our community and our planet while building a successful business that can exist for the long haul.

We’ve discovered that the more we work together with like-minded colleagues and community members, the faster and more fulfilling our collective progress is in the transition to renewable energy.

In that spirit, we want to share a major milestone we’ve achieved as we continue to push forward in our mission.

Sugar Hollow Solar Joining forces with Amicus Solar Cooperative

Sugar Hollow Solar has recently been accepted as the newest, 75th member-owner of Amicus Solar Cooperative, a certified B-Corporation and Public Benefit Corporation.

B-Corporations are a unique type of company, which are held to the highest standards of social and environmental performance, public transparency, and legal accountability.

Amicus is on a quest to support values-driven, independently-owned solar energy companies working every day to bring honor to the solar industry in the way they serve their community—and we couldn’t dream of better company to keep.

Amicus is thrilled to welcome Sugar Hollow Solar as a member-owner. Their team has an excellent reputation for high quality installations with a company culture that shines bright. The care and support they provide their employees and community members is palpable and why we are so excited to have Sugar Hollow Solar part of the Amicus community.

Benefits of Amicus Solar Cooperative Membership

The solar energy revolution has been gathering steam (well, sunshine) in recent years, and we believe one of the driving factors is collaboration.

As members of Amicus, we’re held to a high level of accountability and social responsibility, along with 74 other reputable, values-driven, independent solar companies.

To understand how the Amicus member-owner system works, consider the model for Ace Hardware. Similar to how this cooperative of small, independently owned hardware stores bands together for purchasing power to compete with big box hardware stores, the 75 member-owners of Amicus pool our resources for group purchasing power to compete with massive solar corporations.

Joining Amicus puts Sugar Hollow Solar in a better position to access the highest quality equipment at the best prices with reliable supply partners.

Ultimately, being part of this cooperative enhances our operational effectiveness through collaboration with the 74 other top-notch solar companies across the nation that are members. It is an honor and a privilege, and we’re pausing to celebrate.

We are confident that being part of Amicus will help to expand our operations, create more jobs, and provide more renewable energy solutions to the community.

Not only will this move benefit the environment, but it will also benefit our local Western North Carolina community and economy.

Looking Ahead to a Sustainable Future

We’re thrilled to be part of Amicus and to join the growing list of socially responsible companies that are committed to making the world a better place. We look forward to the positive changes this will bring.
